What is Gastric Band Hypnotherapy?
Gastric Band Hypnotherapy works by allowing you to believe that you have had the Gastric Band surgery without resorting to have the actual surgery.
How does Gastric Band Hypnotherapy work?
The Gastric Band Hypnotherapy works in three stages.
Stage 1. Gastric Band Hypnosis addresses your reasons for over eating, any emotional eating and your diet. Your eating habits are all a symptom of what is going on under the surface and by working on the cause it changes your thinking and feelings towards food to give you long term change.
Stage 2. Gastric Band Hypnosis then helps you to change those negative eating habits to more positive habits. As habits are being changed we work on changing any unhealthy food to healthier alternatives.
Stage 3. The Gastric Band Hypnotherapy surgery now takes place. This is where we imagine the band being placed around the stomach. A follow up session takes place to ensure the band is in the right place and you are getting the results that you want.
How many sessions is The Gastric Band Hypnotherapy?
The therapy normally takes 6 sessions and many people report losing weight from the first session. It takes at least 6 sessions because unlike the actual surgery the therapy addresses the psychological reasons as to why you over eat in the first place. In fact it is a big reason why the actual surgery does not always work. Whether we like it or not it is the sub conscious part of the brain that is driving our unwanted eating habits. If we don’t work on it those habits will still be there even if we had the surgery and we would still be putting on weight.
Are there any risks with the Gastric Band Hypnotherapy?
Hypnotherapy is 100% safe, risk free and as there is no invasive surgery you do not even need to take time off work. Meaning you can get all the same fantastic results for a fraction of the cost and no potentially dangerous side effects.

Risks of Gastric Band Surgery
With gastric band surgery a silicon band is placed around the top part of the stomach creating a small pouch. Once the pouch is full it sends a message to the brain saying the stomach is full.
The Gastric band restricts the amount of food that can be held in the stomach and slows the process of the intake of food. The person loses weight because they feel fuller quicker and so therefore eats less.
As with all surgery there are many risks involved, these include:
- Reflux – this is a condition where the stomach regurgitates food back into the mouth
- Band slipping – because the stomach pouch has stretched
- DVT – Deep Vein Thrombosis
- Death – affects 1 in every 2000 surgeries.
- Infection and bleeding.
- Complications after surgery, including damage to the stomach tissue
- Further surgery to reposition the band or there is a problem with the port
- The real surgery can be expensive costing on average £8,500 and has been known to have disastrous consequences.
- There have also been studies that have shown a large percentage of people who have weight loss surgery put the weight back on again after a period of time.
