Hypnosis is really an altered state of being. It is rather like the moment before you go to sleep, you are awake, aware and in full control, just that you are so comfortable you can’t be bothered to move. In this state our conscious brain is relaxed and our unconscious is active. The conscious and unconscious are like two opposites. Our conscious brain is analytical, argumentative, reasoning. Whereas our unconscious is open to suggestion and very accepting. This does not mean that you will go and do any suggestion made in this state. Our unconscious also has our best interests at heart, it is the part that is controlling our emotions. The unconscious does not judge what is right or wrong, it just knows to keep us safe, so if someone was to suggest you play a chicken and you really don’t want to, well then you won’t. You can’t be made to do something that you don’t want to do. We all have a sense of reality about us, and a sense of what is right for us .

It is when we are in this relaxed state that we have the power to really change our thoughts. We can change unconscious programming to more positive steps. We can look at obstacles from a different view point, we can think about thoughts that were stopping us, limiting us and changing them to thoughts that can now empower us. It really does enable us to change our behaviours to more positive ones. All of this allows us to become so much more confident, assertive and also having a sense of calm.  We find ourselves in control of our actions and producing the results that we want.
